Oklahoma Licensure Board Update
Kathy Hart and Bruce Pitts will present updates to the statutes and rules regarding topics including the professional structural engineer designation, definition of significant structures, and continuing education requirements. General topics will also be discussed concerning the threats to occupational licensing nationally, as well as in Oklahoma. They will also be happy to answer any of your questions regarding licensure as a professional engineer in Oklahoma.
Kathy Hart is the Executive Director of the Oklahoma State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. She began working for the Board in 1990, and in 1994 was named its Executive Director. Kathy is a graduate of Oklahoma State University. For the past 25 years Kathy has also been active with the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying, serving on numerous national committees within NCEES.
Bruce A. Pitts, P.L.S. is a licensed land surveyor and is presently serving as Deputy Director and Director of Enforcement for the Board. Prior to his present engagement, Mr. Pitts practiced land surveying and land subdivision design with emphasis on land title surveys and boundary analysis and boundary dispute resolution since 1976. He received his B.S. degree in Engineering Technology from Oklahoma State University and was on the land surveying faculty of OSU-OKC for over 25 years. Mr. Pitts is a past president of the Oklahoma Society of Land Surveyors, and often makes presentations on land surveying, board laws and rules and ethics. He is an emeritus member of the Board and the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) where he has served on the Land Surveying Exam Committee, Engineering Mobility Task Force and Future of Surveying Task Force and chaired the Law Enforcement Committee.
This course will provide 1 hr of Professional Development (pdh).
